Inquiry Circles are a form of professional development where faculty learn from and with each other through questioning, dialogue, and reflection. Rather than the "sage on the stage" model where an expert lectures, Inquiry Circles create a community where learning is co-constructed and authority is distributed among the members.
The Inquiry Initiative's first Inquiry Circle will take place at UMSL beginning September 4. We will meet monthly on the first Wednesday of the month from 10:30-11:30 in TLC's Bayer Room on South Campus. All faculty and graduate teaching assistants are welcome to attend the conversations. Our topic for the 2019-2020 academic year is Internationalizing Teaching and Learning at UMSL.
A select few faculty members who agree to participate in each inquiry circle conversation, to internationalize a course by including global learning outcomes, and to sharing their revised syllabus with the UMSL community will receive a stipend sponsored by the Longview Foundation. Please contact Shea Kerkhoff for more information. Apply here.

I want there to be a place in the world where people can engage in one another’s differences in a way that is redemptive, full of hope and possibility. |
