What is the Inquiry Initiative?
The Inquiry Initiative is professional development for educators from an inquiry stance. We focus on collaborative inquiry as a learner-centered pedagogy with promise for development of critical global literacies. Teachers will learn how to design highly engaging instruction using culturally sustaining practices to meet the needs of all learners in our global world. Teachers will experience inquiry as a learner and have a chance to collaboratively design inquiry-based learning experience for their students. Teachers will also be able to inquire into their own practice to meet their own goals through practitioner inquiry and dialogue. Working together we can encourage and support each other to make a difference for our students. |

Inquiry Circles
Faculty professional learning dialogues First Wednesdays of the month Sept. - April 10:30 am TLC University of Missouri - St. Louis |
Our world is increasingly interconnected. Education experts have called for innovation in teaching in order to prepare students for our digital, global society. By innovating education through learner-driven inquiry, we hope to provide educators at UMSL, the St. Louis region, and around the world the opportunity to view the changing scope of education, and how new approaches to learning can enhance their teaching and sense of professional development. The vision of the Inquiry Initiative is to provide professional development to teachers with an inquiry-stance toward learning. Our particular model of inquiry integrates digital tools, global competence, and issues of social significance. In this way, inquiry-based learning is also digital, global, and critical pedagogy. The inquiry stance serves as way to facilitate learning with students and as a way to inquire into one's own practice in order to share what works and problem-solve where needed. If you can't make it to St. Louis, I can come to you! Contact me to make a plan. Or, pick up our new book to learn more.
